We make sure that care service providers meet the Scottish Governments National Care Standards and work to improve the quality of care.
To do this, we have 582 employees, including 328 Care Commission officers who inspect services, and an annual operating budget of around £30 million.
Almost 320,000 people use the 15,000 services we regulate - read the list of services we regulate, and watch our DVD to find out more about who we are and what we do.
Our Code of Conduct, tells you about the standard of conduct you should expect from Care Commission staff.
The SSSC is responsible for registering people who work in social services in Scotland and regulating their education and training.
Our role is to increase the protection of people who use social services, to raise standards of practice and to increase public confidence in the sector.
Disclosure Scotland is currently a service provided by Scottish Ministers to manage and operate the Disclosure service in Scotland as provided for in Part V of the Police Act 1997.
From October 2007, Disclosure Scotland formed part of a (shadow) Scottish Government agency which will plan then manage and operate the new vetting and barring service as provided for in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. |
